I was watching the news this morning, and there was a segment on about angry mothers upset that they were told to not breastfeed publicly in Target stores. One woman was doing so, and she was told to please do so in the changing area of the restroom. This caused a protest of mothers sitting in some Target stores and lining up along the wall to breast feed in the store. The end result? Target stores apologizing to the mothers and saying it was OK to breastfeed in the store.
Now, I do not know many mothers who breast feed, but I do know they feel strongly about being able to do so in public. I very much support their cause, but at the same time, I cannot understand the need for someone to do so on their 15-minute stop to a target store. I mean, I don't think it is easy to multitask pushing a cart and having a boob out at the same time - even if it is covered. There aren't a lot of spots in the store either to just sit down and do this. I'm sure a lot of customers would also be uncomfortable seeing someone breastfeed in the middle of the aisles - and I think Target should respect their concerns too.
My biggest question though, and I am not very knowledgeable on this, but why can't mothers do this at home before going to Target, or wait until they are back after shopping to do this? If you absolutely must do this, what is wrong with going to the privacy of a restroom or changing area to do so? Even if you are covered, you are still exposing a private part of your body in public. If I can whip it out and take a leek on a tree in public but keep my mechanisms covered so people don't see - I'm not sure that would be allowed. To a guy though, that seems like the same freedom as women are looking for while breastfeeding in public.

New Year, New Blog
So, I decided I would take the day off today and focus on my life's goals. One of those goals was to start a blog, and to make it successful. I've had several blogs in the past, and I've been told they end up being actually good, but I've never really been serious about it. I've never reached out to share my writing with others. I've never felt proud of it. I could never get the formatting right, I could never pick a theme or a page design I appreciated, and I could never write down all my ideas before I had forgotten about them or lost the motivation for them.
This year coming up, I am hoping I can change that. I'm hoping if I can keep up with a blog this time, and find some good readers who I can keep coming back and who can keep me encouraged, I will have met that goal for a successful blog. Now, sure I'd like to get thousands of followers, sitck up a bunch of ads, collect a big paycheck from writing, and laugh at everyone I see as I'd never have to work again... but I think i'd best keep my goals small least I am disappointed.
If I had to pick a topic for why I am writing this blog about my blog starting today, it would be the new year. This upcoming year I have a short list of important goals, which I suppose makes them New Year's resolutions. Those goals are:
To find a job closer to home
To make some friends
To finish my degree
To have a successful blog
To Exercise
To not lose my passion for being a gamer
And, with that said, and with posting this blog, I am going to leave the rest of my ideas and writings gather up some steam elsewhere so you don't have an overload of blog awesomeness on your first visit. In the meantime, if anyone finds their way here, please feel free to comment. I'd like to know what other people's new years goals are, and I would appreciate any tips on what makes a successful blog.
